Sustainability

Here at Recipharm, we conduct our business in the right way, by respecting all stakeholders at all times. Working in a sustainable manner makes good business sense and allows us to improve our relationship with everyone connected to our company.

At every level of our business across every site location, acting with respect and integrity is an essential part of our decision making processes. We also take our responsibilities seriously and actively work with sustainability and legal compliance in the areas of environment, health & safety, business ethics and employment.

We are proud that Recipharm was one of the first pharmaceutical companies to achieve ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 certification. It is a requirement that all operating companies maintain their ISO accreditation, which we have done for many years.

Recipharm has assigned to United Nations’ Global compact and are committed to implementing the principles of Global Compact in our business processes. We also have our very own Code of Conduct, which defines the business ethics that we demand and is based on our core values. It is underpinned by and complies with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. All employees are required to be trained in the Code of Conduct and no employee is authorised to deviate from this. Key employees are required to sign each year to verify that they have complied with the Code. This is something we take very seriously at Recipharm as part of our commitment to a sustainable business.

As an organisation, we only work with suppliers who act in a responsible and sustainable manner. Whilst we do not routinely go back further than one step in our supply chain, we do take steps to establish our suppliers’ approach to sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Our expectations towards our suppliers are presented in Recipharm’s Supplier Code of Conduct.

Recipharm reports sustainability work according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4. We also report our Green House Gas emissions within the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Community engagement

Each year at Recipharm we give a corporate Christmas gift to an important cause as part of our ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity. This year we have continued our support of the local community in Bengaluru, India, by working with local government schools to provide basic amenities and healthcare to local students and schools.

Throughout 2018 with the help of Recipharm's Bengaluru facility, the money donated by Recipharm has been used to support four local schools with numerous projects including:

  • Construction of toilets and hand wash facilities for general hygiene
  • Construction of a government schools kitchen as part of a free mid-day meal scheme provided by Local State Government
  • Distribution of school desks, computers and school uniforms
  • Organisation of a health awareness camp to local residents of Teppada Begur village
  • Financial incentives to local villages whose schools excelled in the secondary school public examination, to help promote study and education

As school enrolment increases, Recipharm will continue to support the development of amenities and facilities and actively work to help provide sustainable change to the local community of Bengaluru.
