The Procurement Supervisor oversees site-level purchasing and materials planning activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods and services that support manufacturing, quality, and operational needs. This role supervises daily tactical buying, vendor management, and material availability while partnering cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, Finance, and Planning. The Procurement Supervisor drives process improvements, develops supplier relationships, and mentors team members to support an efficient and compliant supply chain operation aligned with corporate and site objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Lead daily procurement operations for direct and indirect materials, capital equipment, and services supporting site operations.

  • Supervise and coach the Buyer and requisitioners, providing guidance on supplier communication, purchasing policies, and issue resolution.

  • Manage purchase order review, exceptions, and change order processing in the ERP system; ensure accuracy in pricing, lead times, and approvals.

  • Monitor supplier performance and coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve delivery, quality, and invoice discrepancies.

  • Partner with Planning and Warehouse teams to align purchasing activity with production schedules, inventory targets, and project timelines.

  • Identify and execute cost reduction, supplier consolidation, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Support supplier audits, vendor qualification, and onboarding in coordination with Quality Assurance and Supply Chain leadership.

  • Maintain compliance with procurement policies, documentation standards, and corporate governance requirements.

  • Escalate supply disruptions, material shortages, or compliance issues to Supply Chain leadership.

  • Collaborate with Finance on accruals, invoices, payment terms, reconciliations, and purchase order reporting.

  • Contribute to site and corporate initiatives related to sustainability, supplier diversity, and continuous improvement.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the Buyer III, providing day-to-day direction, workload prioritization, and performance feedback.

  • Ensure development, cross-training, and consistent adherence to procurement procedures within the team.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field required.

  • 5–7 years of progressively responsible procurement or supply chain experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role.

  • Experience in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

  • ERP experience (Dynamics, NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent) required.

  • Professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of purchasing principles, supplier negotiation, and contract administration.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain vendor partnerships.

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to balance tactical execution with strategic thinking to improve procurement efficiency.


Salary Range

$110,000 – $136,000 annually (based on experience)
