Development of an innovative and user-independent single dose nasal delivery system with high reproducibility.
This webinar will describe how a whole system approach was used to support the efficient and effective development of a novel customisable nasal spray device with user-independent performance characteristics.
Development of a novel customisable nasal spray device for use in a range of patient groups, that can be adapted to meet specific product requirement specifications, such as:
- Use of human factor evaluations to iterate and improve device design
 - Implementation of ‘design for manufacture’ principles to enable a modular design suitable for product-specific customisation and simplified manufacturing
 - Development of a mechanism to achieve highly reproduceable performance in users’ hands, capable of meeting regulatory requirements for emergency use

Implementation of whole system development considering device, formulation, and manufacturing, which includes:
- Cost and time efficient development through rapid product assessment and feasibility studies
 - Early product development using a commercially ready design incorporating an industry-standard primary container closure system with a proven supply chain
 - Use of gold standard analytical methods and equipment to simplify development

Key learning objectives
- Understanding the importance of human factors studies and design for manufacturing in the development of a novel nasal spray device
 - Learning how the incorporation of industry standard technology into a novel device can simplify product development
 - Identifying how the use of a whole system approach can accelerate product development
