We recognise that our company processes and activities have impact on the environment and the climate, which can extend into a wider societal impact.
As a minimum we comply with relevant international, national, and local laws and regulations and adhere to international guidelines. However, we commit to reducing negative environmental impact, minimising pollution, reducing/better using natural resources and reducing/eliminating waste though a programme of continual improvement. This is achieved through having clear goals and objectives, monitoring indicators, setting targets, and identifying and implementing initiatives for the whole group. Progress and performance are reported transparently to assure that adequate resources are provided.
This policy shall apply globally to all companies and legal entities of our Group. For entities where we don’t have direct control, we encourage them to adhere to this policy.
Our commitments include:
General
- Effective risk management is critical. We will identify environmental and climate related risks impacting Recipharm and assure a programme to either eliminate or reduce risks to as low as reasonably achievable, with residual risk being tightly controlled. We will also assess the impact Recipharm has on the society we act in for these aspects.
- Transparency in our achievements and focus through recognised third-party certifications and auditing is used to verify materiality, performance, and reporting.
- Stakeholder participation and engagement are key. We commit to providing resources to assure necessary skills and competencies required to assure continual improvement and reduced negative impacts.
Water
- Compliance with the AMR IA Framework and standard and minimise active pharmaceuticals in effluent water.
- Identification and acting on opportunities to reduce water withdrawal.
- Safely managed Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) in the workplace.
Climate
- Procuring renewable electricity for all operations were available.
- Increased energy efficiency through structured energy management at all sites.
- Striving to reduce carbon emissions in line with international recognised initiatives.
Resources and waste
- Collaborating with customers and suppliers to improve resource efficiency and where possible strive to reduce adverse climate and environmental impact from direct and indirect materials used in our operations.
- When capital or operational expenditures are planned, climate and environmental aspects must be assessed as part of the approval process.
- Eliminating waste to landfill and striving to increase circularity.
